Head & Neck Muscles — Medical Illustration Series
This project is about teaching through systems.
Instead of treating each muscle as a standalone illustration, the goal was to create a cohesive visual language that works across the entire head and neck anatomy. Every diagram follows the same rules: consistent color coding, simplified bone structures, clear labeling, and multiple viewpoints for spatial understanding.
Complex anatomy is reduced without being dumbed down. Muscles are isolated through contrast, while surrounding structures provide just enough context to understand origin, insertion, and function.
By maintaining visual consistency across the series, students can move from one muscle group to another without relearning the visual language. That reduces cognitive load and improves retention.
